Hi, hello, how are you?

Abby "A. E." Mann (she/they) is an author, editor, astrologer, and chaotic house witch. With over a decade of editing experience in academic, professional, fiction, and poetry, Abby spends more time thinking about commas than is healthy. Other things considered too often include, but is in no way limited to: coffee, flowers, Saturn, the gender binary, the historical ramifications of Alexander the Great, and cats.

about me

Let me set the scene for you: four year old Abby folding bright red construction paper, scribbling in purple crayon, stealing my mother's scrapbooking stickers. The result: my first book. At four years, I already knew I wanted to be an author. Of course, I also wanted to be a ballerina/nurse/astronaut at the time, but author is the goal which has remained over the years. Whether I'm listening to stories, reading stories, imagining stories, or writing stories, I always want them, always have a need to know what happens next.

I graduated from Temple University with a BA in English, focus in Creative Writing, in 2017. By that time, I'd already established myself as an editor for my classmates and had begun to dip my toes into editing professional reports. In fact, I was still in high school the first time I edited collegiate essays. Now, I have the joy of editing for fantasy and romance authors. Getting paid to read books is a dream come true for me. I love helping authors tell their stories, finding the best ways to convey their meaning to readers. I am most passionate about helping women, femmes, and AFABs tell their stories in an industry so often dominated by men.

My debut novel, Second Daughter, is set for publication August 2025. A romantic fantasy with magic, vampires, gods, and technology. Yes, technology. Is it fantasy or science-fiction? The answer is yes, and it's spicy. Read more about it in books!

I live in Indiana. I have a 5 year old child, a puppy, and a very fat cat. In the morning, you can find me with coffee and writing on my computer. In the afternoon, you find me with lemon LeCroix and editing on my tablet. And in the evenings, you can find me outside with a glass of wine and a smutty book.
